Thanksgiving Masking
Before there was Halloween children in the United States would go ”Thanksgiving Masking”. Children would dress up as hobos and poor folk and go door to door receiving apples or scrambling for pennies. Here is a small photo collection of these activities from the Library of Congress:

I love this event. But in the old days it looks like a mixture of masquerade and thanksgiving.
I think day gratitude is a ridiculous must be gratitude every day.
